The Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies, the longest-running publication in the field of pedagogical press in Azerbaijan, holds within its pages the century-long history of Azerbaijani education. The journal has played an effective role in the formation and development of the education system in the republic, the elimination of illiteracy, the scientific-pedagogical improvement of school education, the interpretation of new teaching methods, forms, and methods of education and training, as well as in teacher preparation. When comparing the issues of the Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies published in different years, we see that scientific innovations and advanced practices enrich and develop each other, thereby creating a rich pedagogical heritage. What is interesting is that much of the advanced practices reflected in the journal’s pages are useful not only for the schools of the time when the articles were published but also for later periods. This means that the journal also fulfills the function of being a source of practical experience. We also read in the pages of this journal about nationwide important activities related to the approval and implementation of mandatory teaching plans and programs for all schools starting from the 1929/1930 academic year, the transition to compulsory general education, and the task of eradicating illiteracy. The role of the press in the national and cultural renaissance of any nation is undeniable. In this regard, the Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies, the first pedagogical publication in Azerbaijan, can be considered one of the tools that created and developed the educational culture of our people. The article also provides the goals set for the journal to continue fulfilling its mission of serving the development of education.
