ON THE HISTORY OF EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT IN THE KARABAKH REGION OF THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN
The formation of the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan is considered in the Article. It is noted that the new secular schools operating in the 19th century, including the county school opened in Shusha in September 1830, played an important role in the education of the population of the Karabakh region of Northern Azerbaijan. After the occupation of the northern territories of Azerbaijan, the activities of traditional schools were stopped, and schools for the training of tsarist officials were opened. In order to overcome difficulties in the field of nationalization of school buildings, cultural and educational institutions, and in order to develop education in the region, in October 1920, N. Narimanov arrived in Shusha with a group of statesmen. Having shown political will, he showed the ways to implement the tasks set for organizing public education in Upper (Nagorno) Karabakh. Historical studies prove that there was no Armenian ethnos in Upper (Nagorno) Karabakh until the 19th century. They were resettled here by tsarist Russia at the beginning of the 19th century. Despite the fact that the Armenians are trying to prove their autochthonousness in Karabakh and present unsubstantiated territorial claims to Upper (Nagorno) Karabakh, they have no examples of cultural creativity in this region. Taking into account the fact that the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict is in the center of public attention and has become an international problem, the article substantiates the essence of the decision to teach “History of Karabakh” in secondary schools of the Republic of Azerbaijan, taking into account the importance of providing young people with more detailed information about Karabakh region.
