Increasing inclusion and opportunities for all people, regardless of gender, race, cultural or physical diversity, is one of the key factors that enable societies and countries to reach their full potential and achieve sustainable development. However, today’s socio-cultural stereotypes lead to gender imbalances in various spheres of society. This difference could be observed in the labor market as well. The current article investigates the results of a student survey on the topic of gender balance in engineering which was conducted in collaboration with BP Azerbaijan and the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The main goal of the study is to determine involuntarily formed stereotypes among 9th, 10th and 11th-grade students against women engineers. According to the results of the survey, there is a need to increase awareness regarding the gender balance in areas requiring technical skills, such as engineering.
