THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PROCESSES IN ADOLESCENTS
Schools play an active role in the psychological development of children. School life coincides with several important age periods, the most critical age period is adolescence. Adolescents face several problems at school age. Emotional qualities affect their education achievements. İt is known that the interactive activity of the thoughts and emotions cause diversity in human psychology. Human behavior does not occur independently of emotions. The conditions for an effective and productive life depend on psychological components. In psychology, the characteristics of two main components, logical and emotional intelligence, draw attention. It is important because predominantly the decision-making process takes place by thinking logically. At the same time, another factor that has an important place in the realization of human behavior is emotional intelligence. Effective behavior mechanisms consist of these two types of thinking. A study was conducted on the importance of emotional and logical thinking indicators among 8th-grade students of two different schools in Baku. There are two types of tasks in research materials. In one of them, it is the task that allows controlling verbal logical thinking in adolescents and determining their reading comprehension skills. Another task is the psychological part of the study. Here, young people were presented with 40 questions to check their psychological state. Young people were allowed to choose one of the “correct”, “not correct” or “partially correct” answers for each situation. Interesting results were obtained at the end of the research.
