TUYUG: THE FORMATION OF THE GENRE, ITS EVOLUTION AND POSITION IN cLASSIcAL POETRY




The article discusses the formation, the development and the position of the tuyug genre in classical Turkic-speaking poetry. It differs that, despite the fact that tuyug is in aruz rhythm, it is also genre of Turkic poetry. It was formed about the 12th–13th centuries. We already find its perfect examples in Turkic speaking poetry in  the 14th century. Gazi Burhaneddin’s tuyugs clearly prove the fact. In following centuries, both in Turks of the Azerbaijani and Central Asian turks quite perfect samples of tuyug were created. As it is mentioned above, Tuyug is in the Aruz rhythm. Whereas poetry in the Turkic language is mostly created in the syllabic verse.  Therefore, the article touches upon the difficulties that arise while composing the tuyug created in aruz rthytm
and the Turkish poem. Including the article deals with the connection of tuyug verse with music. In addition, the article explains the form features of this genre, its rhyme system, common and distinctive features of the tuyug with the rubai genre. It is also noted that in Chagatai Turkic the good samples of tuyug genre have been  created. The meaning of the word “tuyug” is explained in the article.
