Methods of developing students' self-assessment skills

The great interest in self-assessment in the pedagogical literature
stems from changes in the concept of teaching and learning. The formation
of self-assessment skills in of students is a very complex
process. However, this mechanism, which is applied from the easy
stage to the difficult one, can be achieved in a step-by-step manner.
The reality is that self-assessment is rarely used. In some cases, its
objectivity is questioned, because most students do not understand
the essence of self-assessment and tend to positively evaluate the
questions and tasks asked for this purpose. For successful self-assessment,
the teacher must have sufficient knowledge of this method
of assessment, its means, types, and the requirements for its organization.
Self-assessment should be considered an integral part of the
learning process and should be planned and systematic. Methodological
recommendations should be developed for teachers to have
in-depth knowledge of self-assessment, and should be included in
the methodological resources, which are an important component of
the textbook set. Secondly, students need to become accustomed to
self-assessment and become an important component of this learning
